Introduction to EU ErP Directive
In order to improve the environmental performance of energy-consuming products and control ecological and environmental pollution. On October 31, 2009, the European Union formally issued the Directive 2009/125 / EC on Ecological Requirements for Energy-Related Products, which is the ErP (Energy-related Products) Directive "Directive to Establish a Framework for the Ecological Design Requirements of Energy-Related Products". It This is a rewrite of the EuPhoria (Energy-using Products) Directive (2005/32 / EC), which came into effect on November 10, 2009.
ErP instruction
In order to improve the EUP Directive 2005/32 / EC and further expand its scope, the European Union officially issued the Ecological Requirements Directive 2009/125 / EC of energy-related products on October 31, 2009, which stipulates that energy-related products ( Energy-related Products). Since November 20, 2009, the ErP Directive 2009/125 / EC replaced the original EuP Directive (2005/32 / EC, 2008/28 / EC).
The IM based on the EuP instruction will be transferred to this IM at the same time.
ErP Directive Product Range
Like EuP, the ErP Directive does not apply to the means of transport of people and goods.
In addition to the energy-consuming products covered by the original EuP directive: simple set-top boxes, televisions, external power supplies, fluorescent lamps without integral ballasts, gas discharge lamp ballasts, and lamps using such lamps and ballasts, non-directional Household lights, directional lights, LED lights, luminaires, luminaire controllers (including LED drivers and electronic transformers), dimmers and sensors, motors, domestic refrigeration appliances, circulating pumps, and other energy-saving products, such as windows , Insulation materials or water products (such as shower heads, faucets, etc.).
ErP Directive Implementation Rules
The ErP instruction is not a product-specific instruction, but only a framework instruction. In accordance with the relevant provisions of this directive, the European Union has further formulated a directive on the ecological design requirements that certain types of energy-consuming products must meet, called the "Implementing Measures" (IM). The implementation rules that have been issued are as follows:
1. The eco-design requirements for power consumption of household electrical and electronic equipment to be shut down (No 1275/2008) was issued in December 2008, and the implementation date was January 7, 2010.
2. The simple set-top box ecological design requirement (No 107/2009) was issued in February 2009, and the implementation date was February 25, 2010.
3. The ecological design requirements for non-directional household lamps (No 244/2009) was issued in March 2009, and the implementation date was September 1, 2009.
4. The ecological design requirements of fluorescent lamps without integrated ballasts, high-intensity gas discharge lamps and their ballasts and lamps (No 245/2009) were issued in March 2009 and implemented on April 13, 2010.
5. The ecological design requirements for external power supplies (No 278/2009) were issued in April 2009, and the implementation date was April 27, 2010.
6. The eco-design requirements for motors (No 640/2009) were issued in July 2009, and the implementation date was June 16, 2010.
7. The ecological design requirements for independent shaftless circulators (No 641/2009) were issued in August 2009, and the implementation date was January 1, 2010.
8. The television eco-design requirements (No 642/2009) were issued in July 2009 and the implementation date was January 7, 2010.
9. The eco-design requirements for household refrigeration equipment (No 643/2009) was issued in July 2009, and the implementation date was July 1, 2010.
10. The domestic washing machine (No 1015/2010) was released in November 2010 and implemented on December 1, 2011.
11. The household dishwasher (No 1016/2010) was released in November 2010 and implemented on December 1, 2011.
12. The household clothes dryer (No 932/2012) was released in October 2012 and implemented on November 1, 2013.
13. Motor-driven fan (No 327/2011) with an input power range between 125 W and 500 KW. The release date was April 2011 and the implementation date was April 6, 2011.
14. The eco-design requirements for directional lights, LED lights and related equipment (No 1194/2012) were issued on December 2012 and implemented on September 1, 2013.
ErP certification steps
Conformity assessment
According to the requirements of the ErP Directive, the manufacturer can choose one of two evaluation modes: “Internal Design Control” (ErP Directive Annex IV) or “Environment Management System” (ErP Directive Annex V).
