Saudi SASO certification profile
SASO is the abbreviation of English Saudi Arabian Standards Organization, which means Saudi Arabian Standards Organization. In fact, many of the SASO standards are based on the safety standards of relevant international organizations such as the International Electrotechnical Commission (IEC). Like many other countries, Saudi Arabia has added some unique items to the standard according to its country's civil and industrial voltage, geography and climatic environment, and ethnic and religious habits. In order to achieve consumer protection, SASO standards are not only applicable to products imported from abroad, but also applicable to products produced in Saudi Arabia.
The need for SASO certification
The Saudi Arabian Ministry of Industry and Commerce and SASO require that all products covered by SASO certification standards have SASO certification when entering Saudi customs. Products without SASO certificates will be refused entry by Saudi port customs.
Products are exported to Saudi Arabia. SASO certification certificate will be issued when the goods enter the customs. Technical personnel of Saudi Arabia Standards Organization will check the certificate; if SASO certificate cannot be issued, the product will be refused entry or sampled to Saudi Arabia Ministry of Industry and Commerce The Saudi Arabian Standards Organization conducts tests. If the test fails, the product will be refused entry, and all costs will be borne by the exporting company.
Certification type
I. Pre-shipment Compliance Verification
This method is best suited for exporters or manufacturers who ship very few. Before each shipment, you need to apply for pre-shipment inspection (PSI) and pre-shipment test (PST). A CoC certificate is obtained if both are qualified.
Product Registration
This method is suitable for most customers. Its advantage is that although each shipment inspection (PSI) is necessary, each shipment does not need to undergo pre-shipment test (PST). Customers can obtain the Statement of Registration (SfR) by submitting a declaration of compliance, and providing a test report that conforms to the importing country and relevant international or domestic standards, and declares that the product has met the basic requirements and national differences of the importing country.
3. Type Approval Licensing
This method not only saves the inspection fee or testing fee before each shipment, simplifies repeated application procedures, but also guarantees delivery time. Therefore, some shipments are frequent or large, focusing on quality and reputation Favored by the company. An exporter or manufacturer's product can only obtain a Statement for Licence (SfL) certificate if it fully complies with the mandatory standards of the importing and exporting country. The certificate is valid for one year. Before expiration, you need to submit an updated factory inspection report and pay an annual fee, which can be renewed after being reviewed by RLC. Products that have obtained the SfL certificate no longer need to perform pre-shipment inspection (PSI) for each batch of goods, but are reduced to a few times a year (usually 2-3 times / year, depending on the condition of the product).
The test is performed according to SASO / PAI standards or IEC standards + national differences. The requirements of SASO / PAI standards need to be considered separately, and some terms are quite different. Saudi Arabia's rated voltage is 220V, 50 / 60Hz (with BS plug) or 127V, 60Hz ( (With UL plug) (need to provide another prototype for testing); Kuwait voltage is 240V, 50Hz (with BS plug).
Type approval requires factory inspection;
For electrical products exported to Saudi Arabia, the rated frequency marked on the product must include 60Hz;
User manuals for air conditioners exported to Saudi Arabia must be in Arabic and English; audio and video products, user manuals must be in Arabic;
Original safety regulations and EMC reports must be reports issued by accredited laboratories within 2-3 years.
